Morning Group |
|

Residents can start their mornings off right with the smell of fresh baked bread and cookies during coffee hour that begins at 10 a.m. While enjoying the refreshments the residents can choose to make a craft, art, or puzzles, or just stop by to socialize. Immediately following these morning group sessions are fun chair exercises and dancing to their favorite and familiar “oldie” tunes. |

Bingo and Horseracing |

Two of the most popular events, keeps residents’ minds sharp and these are always great ways to meet new friends. Residents have the chance to win Bingo Bucks at these events and these bucks can be used at the Villa Angela Gift shop where they can purchase gift items, candy, or pop. |

Red Hat Ladies |
|
| |
This is an organization for the ladies at Villa Angela to get together to welcome new and friendly faces and to help others. The members meet once a month and all are invited to join. At the first meeting, those that are new are welcomed as their photos are taken with a large brim red hat and boa. At the second meeting the new members receive their very own “Red” hat for future meetings. The members of the Red Hat Ladies organization are always looking for new ways to help others and in the last year they sent cards to Children’s Hospital and phone cards to the military men and women in Iraq. |

Men's Club |

This is an organization designed for the men of Villa Angela who are looking for ways to have some male bonding. The men usually gather for the much anticipated sporting events, especially football. |

"Party Day" Fridays |
|
| |
Perhaps the highlight of the week is Friday, a time for residents to socialize and enjoy fun entertainment. The entertainment includes keyboard players, guitar, violin, banjo, piano players, singers, and tap dancers, as well as high school choirs. Friday, is a definitely a day filled with fun and entertainment. The activities department, chooses on Friday of each month to have a Monthly Birthday Party, to celebrate any resident that has a birthday during that particular month, cake, ice cream, and punch are all served. |

Resident of the Month |

This award is given the resident who demonstrates a wonderful attitude and finds time to help others. This program is designed to reward and encourage positive behaviors and increases self-esteem. The resident is presented with a plaque and the Columbus Area Elks Lounge gift presentation. A photo of the resident is displayed on the bulletin board. During National Nursing Home Week, in May, a King and Queen are chosen from those residents that were nominated previously. |

Movies and Karaoke |

The residents enjoy other forms of entertainment such as movies and karaoke. At Villa the activities staff features newly released family films once per week or classic older films once per month, along with fresh popcorn. Karaoke is scheduled two to three times per month and the residents can enjoy singing and reminiscing with their favorite songs. |

Church Services |

Villa Angela offers various church services. There are services scheduled every Sunday afternoon with a variety of local churches who offer non-denominational services for all residents to attend. Bible Study and chapel services are scheduled three to four times during the late afternoons or evenings. Catholic volunteers offer services and communion several times a week. All residents are invited to all services. |

Educational Activities |

The residents participate in trivia, state of the week, puzzle time and more. This is an excellent way for the residents to socialize and stimulate their minds with knowledge. |

Physical Activities |

| |
A variety of physical activities encourages residents to stay active and healthy. Bowling, volleyball, parachute exercises and chair dancing are scheduled once per week. |

Cooking Groups |
|
| |
The cooking groups are scheduled in the evenings. The residents enjoy seasonal cooking such as fall apple butter, fried apples, pumpkin seeds, Halloween cookies, Christmas breads and candy, Easter eggs, fair foods (i.e. elephant ears and cotton candy), and summertime cookouts. Just recently the activities department had “A Taste of New York” and “New Orleans” and other fun places. This is time to come together to share cultural foods as well as travel videos and group discussions. |

Scheduled Trips/Outings |

Monthly trips to Wal-Mart and McDonalds. Seasonal trips to the Columbus Zoo, Columbus Clippers Baseball games, Pumpkin Patch, Franklin Conservatory, Columbus Library, the shopping malls, Christmas lights. Movie theaters, restaurants, fishing and picnics in the park. |
